Amar is an accomplished litigator focused on antitrust, consumer protection, contract, cybersecurity, intellectual property, trade secret, unfair competition, and other related disputes. He has experience representing closely held private corporations, large publicly traded companies, C-Suite executives, and leading industry trade groups. His work spans a variety of industries, notably software technology, healthcare, and consumer products.
Amar has substantial experience with nearly all aspects of litigation, including drafting case dispositive motions, managing large-scale discovery projects, and preparing fact and expert witnesses for depositions and trial. Amar also has background experience deploying artificial intelligence and other technology to handle modern litigation challenges. Because of his fluency with AI and technology, Amar can help clients better manage discovery and other litigation costs, thereby enabling clients to focus on dealing with the actual legal issues at hand.
Amar is recognized by his peers and clients for his ability to navigate multifaceted legal challenges on regulatory and compliance issues as well. Because of his prior experience as an economic consultant, Amar understands how his clients’ legal issues are interconnected with their business objectives. He also has experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, particularly with respect to computer technology clients. As a result, Amar is adept at developing and implementing practical risk mitigation strategies in sophisticated technology settings.
Client Work
Amar’s litigation work spans a broad range of matters, including:
- Defending companies and executives in antitrust class actions, multidistrict litigation, and government investigations involving software technology, healthcare services, computer hardware, real estate brokerage services, gasoline, consumer products, and other products and services.
- Representing clients in business-to-business litigation brought in state and federal courts involving alleged violations of California’s Cartwright Act, Unfair Practices Act, and Unfair Competition Law.
- Defending clients and representing third parties in conduct investigations and merger enforcement litigation brought by government regulators (i.e., FTC, DOJ, State Attorneys General).
- Representing clients in state and federal lawsuits alleging civil fraud, conspiracy, RICO, and other complex civil claims.
- Supporting clients in arbitrations involving breach of contract, statutory indemnification, and other commercial claims.
Amar also has experience advising clients on litigation, regulatory, and compliance risks, including:
- Advising global technology firms on antitrust, consumer protection, and other legal risks relating to changes to system access policies, payment platforms, and other technical features of their products and services.
- Counseling clients on the enforceability of non-compete agreements and other similar arrangements with employees, vendors, and other entities.
- Advising industry trade groups, joint ventures, and other entities of the legal risks associated with proposed industry standard setting initiatives and other types of collaborations.
- Creating compliance strategies regarding emerging cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulations, such as the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and the Safeguards Rule.
- Developing and implementing litigation risk management strategies for proposed acquisition roll-ups and other novel business ventures.

Amar is a senior editor of the California Lawyers Association’s (CLA) Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Treatise. He has also contributed to CLA’s E-Briefs, News and Notes. For the American Bar Association, Amar has contributed to the Joint Ventures and Leniency and Sentencing handbooks, as well as to the Antitrust Law Developments Treatise.

Professional Activities
Amar maintains an active pro bono practice. He recently represented a transgender inmate in civil rights litigation relating to the prison system’s failure to provide medical care. Similarly, he achieved favorable settlements for death row inmates exposed to asbestos during their incarceration. He also obtained asylum for clients fleeing persecution and participated in nonpartisan election observation efforts.
During law school, Amar was the Editor in Chief of the UC Davis Law Review and served on the Moot Court Honors Board. Amar also externed for the Honorable Troy L. Nunley of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
