Carlos is a finance attorney, who focuses on a wide range of real estate financing transactions, including multifamily, seniors, manufactured, and affordable housing.

Carlos has closed over $6 billion dollars of financing transactions, involving assets located throughout the United States. His practice involves drafting loan documents, reviewing due diligence, and negotiating on behalf of lenders and issuers. Carlos focuses on complex affordable multi-family housing projects involving real property tax abatements, low-income housing tax credits, and multiple levels of subsidies and loans.

In 2022, Carlos was seconded to the in-house legal team of one of the firm’s clients, where he handled a number of environmental, structuring and regulatory issues associated with multifamily housing loans.

In addition to finance work, Carlos also represents clients in pro bono matters involving removal proceedings, U-Visa applications, and other complex immigration issues.

Client Work

Representative matters include:

  • Represented a major mortgage purchaser in connection with the financing of a $760 million portfolio of affordable housing properties located in nine different states.
  • Represented a major mortgage purchaser in connection with a $580 million financing of market rate multifamily properties.
  • Represented a credit enhancer in connection with a $150 million bond credit enhancement transaction.
  • Represented a municipal issuer in connection with an airport revenue bond financing.
