Karl excels at tackling challenging legal issues and navigating complex cases in both State and Federal Courts. Karl is an experienced litigator, handling matters through all stages of litigation, from inception to resolution, as well as mediations and arbitrations. His adeptness in managing discovery processes, negotiating settlements, and leading depositions, has been instrumental in achieving favorable outcomes for his clients.
Previously, Karl was an Associate at a mid-size firm that represented insurers as coverage and litigation counsel for matters involving directors and officers (D&O), errors & omissions (E&O), general commercial, cyber, and other professional liability policies. Karl advised insurers across a range of industries, including banking, financial services, and other commercial sectors. Prior to private practice, Karl also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New York City Law Department. His practice included defending CPLR Article 78 challenges against the City of New York and its agencies, enforcing and resolving commercial property criminal code violations, and tort litigation. Karl was an awardee of the 2021 Law Department’s Tort Division Chief Award for outstanding performance as a first-year attorney.

Pro Bono Work
Karl is a volunteer for the Justice Resource Center, where he serves as a mock trial coach and an annual judge for the “We the People” civics competition.
Life Beyond the Law
Karl, originally from Maine, is an outdoor enthusiast who loves staying active. Outside of work, he explores New York City, reads non-fiction, follows wine trends, and enjoys dining out or cooking at home.
