Roberto represents clients in a variety of litigation matters in both federal and state courts, as well as before international arbitration forums. His practice encompasses commercial disputes, government and internal investigations, and matters involving the health care industry, including provider-payer disputes and reimbursement practices.
Roberto has guided clients through many stages of litigation, from initial case assessment and strategy development to drafting pleadings, filing motions and briefs, managing discovery, engaging in settlement negotiations, and preparing for trial or arbitration.
Client Work
Roberto’s representative matters include:
- Represented dialysis provider in tortious interference matter against health care consulting company.
- Represented pharmaceutical manufacturer in response to a subpoena issued by the Department of Justice regarding potential liability under the False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute.
- Internal investigation counsel for a Central America-based multinational manufacturer for potential Foreign Corrupt Practices Act issues.
- Represented South American-based ethyl alcohol producer in an International Chamber of Commerce arbitration resulting in an award against a European purchaser.
Pro Bono Work
Roberto has also dedicated substantial time to pro bono matters, including:
- Represented Illinois detainees and prisoners in Section 1983 civil rights cases and secured favorable financial settlements for his clients.
- Working with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services in representing clients in contested divorce and child support disputes.
