ArentFox Schiff Advises VHB on Strategic Acquisitions to Expand Coastal and Land Development Capabilities
ArentFox Schiff represented leading national civil engineering firm, Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB), in a trio of transformative acquisitions which will accelerate VHB’s growth and further its capabilities to address complex challenges for its clients.
VHB acquired two premier coastal engineering firms – Waterway Surveys & Engineering in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Harbor Engineering in Barrington, Rhode Island. These acquisitions will strengthen VHB’s ability to assist clients in protecting and improving their assets along tidal waterways and waterfronts and will position VHB to more effectively implement new development and shore protection projects and enhance aging coastal infrastructure. The Waterway and Harbor Engineering transactions both closed on April 24.
Further expanding its regional footprint, in its third acquisition, VHB joined forces with Hammer Land Engineering, a civil engineering firm based in Manasquan, New Jersey. This strategic move will serve to provide the VHB team with access to a broader range of resources and will dramatically strengthen VHB’s land development services across New Jersey and the broader Northeast region. The Hammer Land Engineering transaction closed April 28.
The AFS deal team included Paul Schmid, Emily Lewis, and Marina Phillips.
