Doug has wide-ranging commercial, class action, and white collar defense litigation experience. His practice includes representing clients in complex commercial disputes, consumer protection matters, contract, and fiduciary duty claims, and all phases of pre-trial, trial, post-trial, and appellate litigation. His white collar practice includes representing both individual and corporate clients under investigation by state and federal law enforcement agencies, managing formal responses to government inquiries, negotiations with the government, ongoing advice, and litigation where appropriate. Doug routinely appears in both federal and state trial and appellate courts.
Doug’s practice spans a wide variety of industries and practice areas, including automotive, medical, consumer products, constitutional law, labor and employment, regulatory enforcement advice and defense, and advertising and representation issues. He has particular experience in consumer protection and class action law, including the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act); TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act); RICO defense (Racketeering Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act); and California Bus. & Prof. Code § 17200, regarding business practices in California.
Doug is one of the firm’s go-to trial lawyers, praised for his ability to “parachute in” shortly before trial, take charge of strategy, and try cases to a successful result. He was recently recognized for this particular skill, and others, by Daily Journal. Doug is also a trusted litigator with specialized, repeated success handling bankruptcy adversary proceedings; high-value motions for attorneys’ fees; state, federal, and foreign civil procedure; and enforcing judgments in California for out-of-state and international clients.
Firm Citizenship
Doug previously served as the Chair of the firm’s nationwide Associates’ Committee, the Co-Chair of the Associates’ Diversity Subcommittee, and the only associate Board Member of the ArentFox Schiff Center for Justice. He is also a member of the Los Angeles office’s summer associate Hiring Committee, where he is active in the firm’s hiring and diversity efforts. Doug takes the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives to heart and has been critical in the firm’s efforts to drive progress both inside and outside of the firm.

Pro Bono Work
Doug is also proudly recognized for his commitment to the firm’s pro bono efforts. He filed and argued habeas petitions in over three dozen individual cases, successfully obtaining the release of unaccompanied minor asylum-seekers from unlawful detention in either Border Patrol or ICE custody. He also led a team in a multi-year case in which the firm represented a young woman bringing claims of sexual assault and grooming against her doctor and former employer, successfully navigating the complexities of a #MeToo era case and obtaining justice for a vulnerable client.
Previous Work
Doug previously worked as an associate in an international law firm’s Los Angeles office.
Life Beyond the Law
In his free time, Doug enjoys playing flag football, watching Formula 1 and the NFL, is a captain of the firm’s Los Angeles softball team, and roots for his beloved Harvard Crimson football team as an alum.
