AFS Partner Lauren Wolven will speak at the 2025 Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section and Business & Corporations Section Seminar on December 4 in Bismarck, North Dakota.
In her session “Planning to Meet One’s Maker: The Intersection of Religious Beliefs and Estate Planning,” Lauren will dive into the ethics topic of cultural competence and its impact on the estate planning process, with a focus on topics of sensitivity, inheritance rules, and burial practices. Lauren will address laws applicable to the disposition of remains, increase understanding of religious rules and norms around the disposition of remains, and detail solutions for state law differences to ensure the ability to comply with the client’s religious and cultural beliefs/wishes.
